some are trying to take credit for war victory but troops know who deserve it

Chief if Defense staff , Gen. Fonseka addressing a gathering at a SL Buddhist Temple in Washington said, there are attempts being made by some to appropriate credit for the war victory , but only troops on the ground know as to who deserves the credit.

As I led the war operations , I know how much the soldiers sacrificed. 5000 of them died , 28000 of them were maimed. I am indebted to them , he added.

Endless celebrations over the victory is not the way forward. Unless measures are taken to consolidate the victory by follow up action , more Prabhakarans can emerge, he warned.
